This skirt from AA is one of my favorite pieces in my wardrobe. It's super versatile and I've had it almost two years now. It's always good to have that one piece you can mold your wardrobe around. What's yours?

Five Things To Do When You're Feeling Depressed

Monday, January 25, 2016

I’m sure that all of us have encountered those days when we feel our lowest: things that once mad us happy no longer excite us, just getting up and moving around begins to feel like a trivial task, and finding inspiration begins to feel draining. When dealing with depression, it isn’t just “One of those days,” – it is almost as if you are being followed by a black cloud. Nothing ever seems to go just right. Well, luckily for us depression is curable – and one of the ways you can speed up that process is by motivating yourself.

I've had the pleasure of being able to guest post for Chantal of Painted Teacup on some helpful ways to help ease your way into getting rid of depression - check out my post over on Painted Teacup.

#BACKTOSCHOOL: Study Tips.

Wednesday, January 20, 2016

After an entire few months of netflixing, gaming, and generally being lazy - school has come back around to whip us into shape. While I know it's super hard to sit still and study, it is essential to keep up with your coursework in order to pass! While I'm super anal about whether I get an A or not, I am super lazy when it comes to making sure I study. Here are some foolproof ways to shake up your study routine and make sure you get that passing grade!

-----

Stay Hydrated: This tip goes without saying. It's all too easy to sit still for an hour or so, or even pull an all nighter, without having even one sip of water. My favorite go to's to stay hydrated are coconut water, acai smoothies (am) and tea(pm)!

Put On Some Music: If you aren't drinking any caffeine, music is key to staying away and really getting into the groove of studying. Here's a list of my favorite playlists to vibe to when I'm studying:
  • http://8tracks.com/dominique-lester/pentakill
  • http://8tracks.com/8cvetko/pure-chillstep-3

Study In Groups: If you have any close friends who need help keeping up with their coursework, team up and study in groups! This is the best way to have some great conversation over a few cups of coffee and it really helps keep you on task. Be sure to study with other motivated, positive individuals so you have a stress free study environment.

Stay Organized: This goes well without saying. Staying organized is key in college. Your worst day is losing notes before an open note final exam. If you want to stay on point - buy a cute folder to keep your notes in!

Start Early: When you are given your course syllabus, you should have a list of assignments that will be due through the semester. My best quip of advice would be to START EARLY. The earlier the better. I often do things a week out in advance (extreme much?) - but this ultimately gives me more free time to enjoy, and I am able to get extra credit most of the time. That's a win/win.

----------

Since the Spring semester is starting up this week, I decided to show you my back to school style! I typically like to keep it pretty casual - but I also add my own flair. If you're like me and like to keep it comfy, try adding more accessories to your outfit. Even if you're going in sweats, try adding a cute pair of trainers and a long sleeve crop top! I'll be posting more back to school looks throughout the week. What do you guys wear to class?

Velvet Mustard Colored Dress, Black Thigh High Socks, Black Hat.

SoCal has been super bi-polar lately with some intense rain and heavy storms. I totally wasn't expecting it, so finding a rain worthy outfit was pretty rough. I decided to pair my velvet dress from SheIn with a pair of thigh high socks and my trusty bowler hat. It was super practical, and pairing it with a leather jacket at the end of the night gave it a slight edge. What do you wear on rainy days?

Top 5 Skin and Haircare Products Of 2015.

Thursday, December 31, 2015

To end my top fave's segment, I decided to go into the realm of skin and haircare!

  • Aussie Moist Shampoo + Conditioner Set - As someone who likes to keep their haircare steps to a minimum, this Aussie set has been the key to solving all my haircare problems. As a newly natural haired girl, it was easy to get confused; What is my hair type? Can I use THIS on my hair? Will this dry my hair out? As I've been learning how my own hair works in its natural state, the moist line has been helping me keep my hair extremely soft and manageable. If you are new to the natural hair scene or looking into transitioning I would highly recommend this for any starters!
  • Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser - When you're dealing with remnants of acne scars like me, the best thing you can do for your skin is continue to maintain it. This cleanser is my go to, it isn't the best if you currently have acne but it is able to help improve the firmness of your skin as well as smooth out any harsh lines.
  • Clearasil Rapid Action Pads - This item is definitely my holy grail when it comes to clearing acne. Luckily, I haven't had any breakouts but I do encounter a few here and there once a month. To clear them up I just use this as a toner after my cleanser and it helps clear it almost overnight!
  • Mederma Cream With SPF - The final step in my skincare process is sealing everything with my mederma cream. This helps remove existing scars caused by acne!
Honorable Mention
  • Shea Moisture Curling Souffle - I've always been afraid to add gel to my routine as I thought it would make my hair dry and brittle. That is definitely not the case with this product! Not only is it moisturizing, but my hair is extremely soft afterwards! This is a great product to add to any wash and go routine.

I hope everyone has a safe and fun night tonight! If you happen to grab and Uber - snag your free ride using code: a436w. What are your plans for the night? Keep me updated in the comments below! x

Top 5 Beauty Products Of 2015.

Wednesday, December 30, 2015

As 2015 comes to a close, I've decided to recap my favorite products of the year! The products I've listed are pretty weather wearable. Whether you are bracing the snow on the East Coast, or chillin' poolside on the West - there's sure to be something for everyone.

  • Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector - I actually picked up this product by mistake! After watching Natalie Halcro's everyday makeup video, I decided to check out some of the Becca products. As an oily skinned girl, the product itself winds up being less oily and more dewy. The end product is a sun kissed glow that's super flattering and also works as a great base for your foundation.
  • Jimmy Choo Rollerball Perfume - ULTA had an amazing offer where they allowed you to receive a free robe with any purchase of fragrance that totaled forty dollars or more. Obviously I had to get in on the deal, so I snagged these two Jimmy Choo rollerball perfumes in Illicit and original. I'm not sure why I never thought to grab rollerball perfumes in the past but these things are handy! They fit right into my bag and give me the same long lasting smell as any perfume without the hassle of carrying around the bottle.
  • Milani Power Lip Gloss - A friend of mind got me hip to snagging Milani lip products at Dollar General (High pigment beauty products for a dollar? Count me in!), so I obviously had to take the plunge and grab a few products! Unfortunately, the Milani section was wiped! But, I was able to grab two of their Power Lip glosses in creamy cafe and raspberry tart. The product is definitely pigmented and lasts long but you will need to reapply a few times throughout the day.
  • Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation - If you've gone through that crucial high school acne phase, you know that the scars they can leave behind are no joke. This foundation helps keep my skin matte while covering ALL of the remnants of my high school acne scarring. For someone like me, full coverage is a must and if you have any problems with scarring I highly recommend this product.
  • Becca Undereye Brightening Corrector - Luckily, I don't have any issues with under eye darkness or bags, however, after seeing the results that Natalie Halcro had - I had to try this! This product gives you the perfect "Kim Kardashian" glam under eye look without appearing too bright. It's the perfect shade for any complexion and you can apply it over or under your foundation!

Overall, I was able to snag some great products this year but my holy grail would definitely have to be the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector. What were some of your favorite beauty products this year?
